2025UKDA UK New Concept Design Award

Competition Introduction:

The 2025UKDA British New Concept Design Award is an international art and design competition launched by the British Higher Education International Development Agency. This competition is divided into a design track and a knowledge competition track. It aims to actively respond to and support the Vision and Action to Promote the Joint Construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, deepen the understanding of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, promote cultural exchanges and cooperation among countries along the line, and strengthen mutual learning and mutual learning between different civilizations.

Contestants need to focus on the theme of "Silk Road Symphony, Art Fusion", showcasing the integration and innovation of diverse cultures on the Silk Road, combining traditional art with modern aesthetics, creating works with a sense of the times and cultural depth, injecting new vitality into traditional art, and promoting sustainable development in the field of design.

3、 Participants

A Design Track

1. Student group: Undergraduate, vocational, graduate, and doctoral students from all universities are eligible to apply.

2. Designer group: Professional designers under the age of 40, design enthusiasts, and young people who love design can all register to participate.

B Knowledge Track

The competition is open to all college students and is limited to individual participation with no major restrictions. Interdisciplinary communication is encouraged.

4、 Competition theme

A Design Track:

This competition is divided into two directions: proposition combination and non proposition group:

a. Topic group: Silk Road Symphony, Artistic Fusion

Contestants need to create around the theme of "Silk Road Symphony, Art Fusion", including but not limited to modern interpretation of intangible cultural heritage art, natural harmony of ecological aesthetics, visual feast of traditional cuisine, and the spirit of the times of celebrity legends. Contestants need to explore the historical value of Silk Road culture and skillfully integrate traditional elements with modern design. Through this process, participants will showcase the beauty of the fusion of Silk Road art, bringing new vitality to the "Silk Road Symphony" in contemporary art.

b. Non propositional group

The theme of freedom, which is not limited to creation, can be developed around historical buildings, cultural spirit, China-Chic Intangible Cultural Heritage and other social hot spots as the theme of creative design.

c. Submit Category

Industrial product categories (industrial design, product design, cultural and creative design, product packaging design, furniture design, etc.)

Fashion design category (clothing design, dyeing and weaving, fabrics, digital fashion design, etc.)

AIGC generated classes (AI painting, AI character generation, AI video, product design, environmental space, clothing, etc.)

Visual Communication (Advertising and Poster Design, Digital Photography, Digital Painting, UI Design, VI Brand Image Design, Packaging Design, etc.)

Environmental design (architectural design, interior design, landscape design, planning and design, urban design, intelligent construction design, exhibition design, etc.)

B Knowledge Track:

The theme of this knowledge contest is "Silk Road Culture", which aims to popularize the basic knowledge of the Silk Road and promote people to people and cultural exchanges under the "the Belt and Road" initiative. The competition is conducted in the form of knowledge quizzes, and all participants can register and participate through the official website. The topics cover the history, culture and development of the Silk Road, as well as the profound impact of the "the Belt and Road" on the economy and culture of countries along the route.

5、 Competition format

A Design Track

The design track is divided into two stages: the sub zone selection competition (hereinafter referred to as the "sub zone") and the final (hereinafter referred to as the "final").

The evaluation of all entries in the division stage is carried out by the competition committee. Participants who win second prize or above in each regional competition will automatically participate in the finals.

After entering the finals, the organizing committee of the regional competition is responsible for submitting the entries to the judging panel of the finals. Participants do not need to submit again and their entries cannot be modified.

Note: After a participant advances to the finals, if they fail to win a higher level award in the finals, their award in the regional competition will still be valid.

B Knowledge Track

The knowledge answer question type includes 40 Single choice question questions and judgment questions, including 30 Single choice question questions, 3 points for each question, 10 judgment questions, 1 point for each question, and the full score is 100 points. Report and answer as needed, with a total of 1 per person

Students who have successfully registered will have the opportunity to take the exam and be evaluated within the designated time frame. For this competition, the organizing committee has compiled a relevant question bank for students to refer to and learn from.

6、 Participation fee

A Design Track

Participants from different regions are required to pay a registration fee of £ 6 (approximately RMB 55). There is no participation fee for the finals.

B Knowledge Track

Participants are required to pay a registration fee of RMB 45.

Note: The registration fee is mainly used for the evaluation of works and the operation of the competition system, and does not include the cost of award benefits. For each winner, a free electronic certificate will be provided.

7、 Reward Settings

A Design Track:

Regional awards:

First prize: 5% of the total number of entries.

Second prize: 10% of the total number of entries.

Third Prize: 15% of the total number of entries.

Excellence Award: 18% of the total number of entries.

Nomination Award: 20% of the total number of entries.

Finals Awards:

Best Conceptual Design Award: 10 winners.

First prize: 2% of the total number of entries.

Second prize: 5% of the total number of entries.

Third Prize: 10% of the total number of entries.

Note: For the winning entries in the finals, the organizing committee will provide a medal and paper certificate free of charge. Shipping costs will be borne by the participants. If additional rights and benefits are required, as well as sub regional awards, they can be applied for at their own expense. The electronic certificate for the knowledge competition can be downloaded at any time on the 5th of each month.

C Special Award Setting:

1. Excellent Guidance Teacher Award

Students who receive a second prize or above in their guidance will be awarded an Outstanding Guidance Teacher Honor Certificate and Medal.

2. Outstanding Organizational Unit Award

Organizing and guiding 40 or more individuals who receive first, second, or third prizes will be awarded an excellent organizational unit honor certificate and medal.

3. Internet Popularity Award

All participants can choose whether to participate in the selection of the Internet Popularity Award. During the selection process, the public will vote on the final works displayed through the official website or designated platform of the competition. After the voting period ends, the works that receive the top 10% of the total votes will receive the Internet Popularity Award. Winners will receive electronic award certificates, paper award certificates, and medals.

8、 Registration and submission requirements

1. Submission method: All submissions are made online, and both the work and registration information are uploaded online.

2. Artwork images: Artwork images other than display posters will assist in the work of artwork evaluation. Upload in JPG/PNG format, with a resolution of no less than 1920x1080 and a single image file size of no more than 10M.

3. Each contestant can register for multiple tracks, with a limit of three entries per track. Please do not register for the same track again.

9、 Other

1. The competition accepts individual and team participation, with no more than 3 team members allowed.

Once a work is submitted, regardless of whether it has won an award or not, it will not be returned. After submission, the work cannot be changed.

3. All entries must be original and plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Any disputes involving copyright or intellectual property rights shall be the responsibility of the participant, and violators will be disqualified.

4. For those participating in the Chinese competition area, all work information and formatting must be filled in Chinese.

When participating individually, there is no need to fill in the information column for other participants.

6. The content of the work should conform to mainstream social values, and must not contain content that violates laws and regulations, discriminatory content related to gender or religion, or infringe on the privacy of others. Any legal consequences arising from this shall be borne by the submitter.

7. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Once discovered, the eligibility to participate will be immediately cancelled and publicly announced; If there is a copyright dispute arising from the work, all consequences shall be borne by the participant.

8. To ensure fair evaluation, the display section of the work does not allow the presence of school, unit, author name, or other event logos. Once discovered, points will be deducted.

9. Participants must submit their works through the competition system within the specified time and submit the corresponding materials as required. Late submissions are invalid.

10. Please do not include the following content in the submitted work:

a. Politically sensitive and provocative images, including national flags, emblems, flags, logos, and other elements.

b. Images and elements that tend to be bloody, violent, vulgar, nude, and indecent.

c. Insult, defamatory or discriminatory (including but not limited to racial, religious, ethnic, gender discrimination) suggestive images and elements.

d. Any other visuals or elements that may cause discomfort to the public.

11. The organizing committee has the right to exhibit, publish, promote, collect, and display all entries on television, the internet, print or broadcast media. The selected works will be announced on the official website of the competition and on the platforms of Xiaohongshu and WeChat.
